The Pearl River Delta is a microcosm of the earth shaking changes that Guangdong has made in the exploration of reform and opening up and the implementation of socialist market economy. Dongguan is located in the south central part of Guangdong Province and the northeast part of the the Pearl River Delta. It is 50 kilometers away from Guangzhou in the north, 90 kilometers away from Shenzhen in the south, 47 nautical miles from Hong Kong by water and 48 nautical miles from Macao. It is the only place for land and water transportation between Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Houjie Town is located in the southwest of Dongguan City, in the middle of the Guangzhou Shenzhen Economic Corridor, connecting Guancheng in the north and Humen in the south. National Highway 107 and Guangzhou Shenzhen Expressway cross the whole territory. With developed land and water transportation, it is one of the key satellite towns in the the Pearl River Delta.
